Please Note: Napa Valley College accepts applications for part-time, hourly faculty pools on a continuous basis. Napa Valley College is soliciting applications for part-time, hourly Librarians. The starting salary range is $68.66-$74.26/classroom hour, with future steps up to $86.87/classroom hour. Placement is based on verified previous college teaching, librarian or counseling experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

The position will engage in a full range of reference, library instruction, collection development, and outreach activities.

Adjunct Faculty duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide in-person and online reference assistance and research consultation to students, faculty, and staff at the refence desk, including one-on-one appointments.
  • Teach library instruction sessions and facilitate library orientations.
  • Teach or co-teach library workshops.
  • Engage in collection development duties (e.g., weeding, purchasing, and evaluating collections in one or more subject areas).
  • Act as library liaison for one or more subject areas.
  • Assist students and teaching faculty in locating academic resources.
  • Create and update online resources (e.g., research guides and websites).
  • Promote library resources, services, and outreach efforts to the campus community.
  • Has the opportunity to teach credit-bearing library courses.
  • Contribute to development of Library programs, policies, and procedures
  • Perform related duties in the Library and Learning Center, as assigned

Understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff and faculty.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in library science, or library and information science, or the equivalent.
