Part Time Librarian
Job Description:
Chabot College is seeking a part-time librarian for morning and afternoon in person hours. However, assigned shifts can also include evenings. Chabot Librarians teach effective research strategies in print and online resources through library instructional sessions and reference services, serving a diverse student population. Candidates must have demonstrated instructional skills in the classroom (e.g., in-person, synchronous, asynchronous), and at the reference desk (in-person and online) to join our outstanding team of librarians and classified professionals.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in library science of library and information science; or the equivalent
- Demonstrate cultural competence and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, neurodivergent, LGBTQIA+, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical and /or learning differences to foster an equitable learning environment.
Desired Qualifications:
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Experience in providing information/reference services, preferably in an academic setting
- Knowledge of or experience delivering database instruction in synchronous and asynchronous modalities
- Enthusiastic approach to working collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff
- Working knowledge of integrated library systems, ideally Ex Libris’ Alma and Primo
- Familiarity with instructional technologies (e.g., LibGuides, Canvas, Zoom, etc.)
Salary:
$2,075.12/CAH – $2,322.27/CAH
